Earthsongs Music Collective is dedicated to rekindling the natural, noble, and sacred role of musicians.
Musicians are healers, shaman, culture stewards, high esteemed advisors, heroes, leaders, blessers, medicine makers, and meaning-makers.
For the longest arc of human time,
musicians were not our entertainers, they weren’t pop celebrities,
they weren’t discarded by the wayside of industry,
musicians were not mined for their genius.
Musicians gave every culture vitality.
Since the first light of day,
since the first day,
musicians made the prayers.
Musicians sang the grief songs, sang the tribal histories, recounted ancestral lineages, played the epic poems, animated the mythologies, presided over tribal agreements, sang the sick to life, sang the dead to the afterlife, praised the generosity of earth for the offerings of food, fiber, water, fire, air, and beauty.
Musicians moved the rituals.
Musicians sang houses into being, planted the fields, wove the tapestries, forged the metal, cooked the food, made the tools, initiated the youth, fired the clay pots, and regenerated every culture's cosmological origins.
